Jack CrittendenEditor-in-Chief Publisher, and now Editor-in-Chief, Jack Crittenden has implemented many new and exciting features into both The National Jurist and preLaw editorial calendars for the upcoming year. Crittenden founded The National Jurist upon graduating from American University Washington College of Law in 1991 where he received his JD. At the time, there was a desperate need for more news and information available for law students to access. In an effort to fix the problem, Crittenden established The National Jurist publication. The magazine has successfully educated and inspired students to make more informed decisions about their future’s in law for the last 16 years. Crittenden decided to take it one step further and established preLaw magazine just 6 years later. It is now the go-to source for pre-law students seeking knowledge and advice on preparing and choosing a law school. Today, both publications have successfully delivered new stories, trends entertainment and advice to law and prospective law students. With the increase in technology, the company has expanded to include a newly re-vamped website, digital magazines, and video productions. Crittenden resides in San Diego, Calif., and is the father of two daughters. |
Karen DybisNews Reporter Karen Dybis has joined The National Jurist and preLaw editorial staff as one of our new features writers for the year. Dybis had career aspirations to become a court reporter, having whetted her appetite for crime in one of the best courts in American – Oakland County Circuit Court. This Pontiac, Mich., courthouse has hosted some infamous trials, including those of Dr. Jack Kevorikian, Scott Amedure (The Jenny Jones Murderer) and Nathanial Abraham (who at age 11 was the states youngest killer convicted as an adult). But some job opportunities resulted in another direction. Dybis, a graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, has wored as a news reporter for The (Adrian) Daily Telegram and The Oakland Press. She also worked for five years as a business reporter for The Detroit News, where she covered the Kmart Corp. bankruptcy, the largest Chapter 11 reorganization in the retail industry. Dybis, now works as a freelance writer, working for publications including The Detroit News, Chicken Soup for the Soul magazine, On Wall Street, and now The National Jurist and preLaw magazines!
