Getting away with lying, after it was announced that Johnathan Perkins, who had fabricated a story about police misconduct at University of Virginia, was acquitted of honor charges and received his law degree. Perkins, who is black, claimed in a letter to the student newspaper that he had been the victim of racial profiling in an encounter with university police. After the police began to investigate, he admitted he had made the story up. Perkins was unable to attend graduation ceremonies, but was acquitted by a jury of students over the summer.

Getting away with threatening murder, after Ave Maria law student Robert Ringley was arrested for attempted murder and aggravated assault. While drunk, he allegedly pulled out a gun after his girlfriend told him the relationship was over. He
Then held his roommate and ex-girlfriend at gunpoint and had them kneel on the floor, pointing his gun at their heads, execution style. He fired shots into the air. Fellow students expressed shock at the incident.
