Add University of Pennsylvania Law School to the list of the very best law schools in the world.
Quacquarelli Symonds, also known as QS, released its annual ranking based on academic reputation, employer reputation and citations. As in years past, the U.S. dominates the list with nine schools (up from eight) followed by law schools in the United Kingdom (5) and Australia (4).
Danny Byrne, editor at TopUniversityes.com, which publishes the ranking, said it differentiates itself from other world rankings by directing its focus to U.S. and international students, with an emphasis on how these top universities would bring value to the education market and for potential employment — a big concern for everyone going to law school.
“We wanted to create something that was for more student-focused and less directed on research and stakeholders,” Byrne said.
QS surveyed employers and educators from around the world working in the fields of law. Members of academia were asked to identify the best universities for legal education. The survey asked employers to identify which universities produce the best graduates. Additionally, citations per paper were evaluated
