Jack A. Guttenberg, dean of Capital University Law School, has announced that he will step down in June 2010. His resignation marks the end of six years of successful leadership.
Guttenberg recently completed Capital’s strategic plan, Building on our Momentum, Securing our Future: Strategies 2010. The plan has dramatically improved graduates’ pass rate on the Ohio Bar Exam to 94 percent, giving Capital the highest first-time pass rate among Ohio law schools. The plan has also strengthened alumni relations, diversified the student body, and established a loan repayment assistance program.
“I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together in the past five years,” Guttenberg said. “I look forward to completing the work of the strategic plan in the next year and then taking on new professional challenges as a teacher, scholar, administrator, and advocate for accessible legal education.”
Capital hopes to find a new dean this summer through a national search.
