The University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law announced a new scholarship matching program, underwritten by the Sturm Family Foundation, that upon completion will add $10.5 million in new endowed scholarships for high-achieving J.D. students. The Sturm Challenge will provide up to $4 million in matching funds for endowed scholarships.
“We are grateful to the Sturm Family Foundation for their continued partnership to ensure the Sturm College of Law remains an excellent law school and a source of great pride for the University and the community,” said Chancellor Rebecca Chopp. “The Sturms are wonderful friends of our University and dedicated to the continued growth of quality at the Sturm College of Law.”
Through the combination of the Sturm Foundation’s support and the University of Denver’s Momentum Scholarship Challenge, donors who make a qualified gift or pledge of at least $50,000 will be able to endow their own named scholarships, but with tremendous leverage. The first $1 million in qualifying gifts will be tripled, so that a $50,000 gift will result in a $150,000 endowment. Additionally, the next $3 million in qualifying gifts will be matched by a factor of 2.5, so that a $50,000 gift will result in a $125,000 endowment. All of these endowments will support scholarships for law students.
