It was a BAD week for…

Balance in legal education, after a poll showed 72 percent of law professors supported President Obama over Mitt Romney for President. Romney garnered only 19 percent of the vote. The poll was conducted by Brian Leiter with 420 votes cast. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate, and Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate got 2 percent each. Leitner wrote: “I’m impressed (or distressed) by the strong showing for the Republican, and surprised by the tepid support for both Johnson and Stein. As further evidence that legal academics lean to the right, do contrast the results when I polled philosophers on the election!” Only 7 percent of philosophers voted for Romney.

Understanding law school employment data, after Law School Transparency launched Score Reports, an online tool that provides comparisons between schools on employment data, admissions standards and costs. Users can search by state and find all the law schools where at least 5 percent of their graduates landed jobs in that state.
