Trimming the fat, after the SUNY Buffalo Law School decided to downsize both it’s faculty and incoming class size. Dean Makau Mutua said the law school will decrease it’s class size from between 200 and 225 incoming first year students to between 185 and 200 students. The law school has also offered retirement incentives to faculty members over the age of 55. The faculty will be downsized by eight people, all of which accepted the retirement incentives.

Finding a replacement, after the University of Florida, Frederic G. Levin College of Law gave up its search for a new dean. University president Bernie Machen told law school faculty and staff he decided to end the search for this academic year. Machen said that while there were many worthy candidates, none were “ideally suited” to lead the law school through the next ten years. The law school spent $90,000 on the search for the new dean, but ultimately decided not to select any of the final applicants. The law school will appoint an interim dean, and will likely continue the search during the next academic year.
