confidentiality, as a University of Virginia School of Law career services staffer forgot to blind carbon copy recipients of an e-mail sent to recent grads who still didn’t have a job. The visible list left a clue that over a quarter of recent UVA grads may currently be unemployed.

retaliating law professors, after Widener University suspended Lawrence Connell without pay for one year and ordered him to undergo psychiatric evaluation. Connell was a criminal law professor at the school accused of making racist and sexist comments during class. A faculty panel cleared him of the harassment charges, but his suspension stemmed from the panel’s determination that Connell retaliated against his student accusers when he published an e-mail seeking to discover the students’ identities.

tier three law schools, as both New York Law School and Thomas Cooley were sued for fraud, negligent misrepresentation and deceptive business practices by former students represented by Krazon Strauss, a small New York City based firm. The two class actions suits were filed earlier this week. Cooley had already previously filed a suit against Karzon Strauss for defamation.

… grandstanding Congressmen, after Senator Chuck Grassley told the ABA he wasn’t happy with their response to his request for more information on how the organization regulates law schools, particularly with respect to employment and student loans. Grassley sent the request last month and received a detailed and lengthy response from the ABA. However, Grassley called the response “inadequate,” and asked for further details, particularly about accreditation and loan defaults.
