Drexel appoints Martha Candiello to head of Career Development

 Drexel University has appointed Martha Candiello to head of the Career and Professional Development Office. Candiello comes to the position with over 30 years experience in law.

Prior to joining the faculty at Drexel, Candiello served as the general counsel of Sunoco Chemicals, managing their legal affairs from 2003 to 2006. Her career took off with the Rohm and Haas Company, where she worked from 1979 through 2000. Most recently she was principal of ClientBridge, LLC, which helps professional service organizations identify client service standards.

Dexter Smith Appointed to Assistant Dean of Admissions at Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law

Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law has named Dexter Smith its new Assistant Dean of Admissions. Smith comes to the position from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Fla.

“We are thrilled to have Dexter Smith join Campbell Law as the leader of our admissions team,” Dean Melissa Essary said. “He is innovative and brings a proven track record in law school admissions to Campbell.”

Forrest Stanford Named Associate Dean for Admissions at Charlotte School of Law

Forrest Stanford has been appointed to associate dean for admissions at the Charlotte School of Law. Stanford has an extensive career with experience at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Mercer University Law School, William Mitchell College of Law and the University of Minnesota.

Paul McGreal Named Dean of University of Dayton School of Law

The University of Dayton School of Law has named Paul McGreal as the new dean, beginning July 2011. The decision comes after current Dean Lisa Kloppenberg decided to return to the UD faculty to pursue her scholarship and teaching.

“I have great admiration for the work that Dean Lisa Kloppenberg and the law school faculty have done to create the law school's innovative curriculum,” McGreal said.

George Washington Law names Gregory Maggs interim dean

 George Washington Law School has appointed Gregory E. Maggs as interim dean during the university's nationwide search to replace law school dean, Frederick M. Lawrence. A member of the faculty since 1993, Maggs has previously served as senior associate dean for academic affairs and co-director of the National Security & U.S. Foreign Relations Law program.

Chief Justice John T. Broderick named dean of UNH School of Law

The University of New Hampshire School of Law has appointed Chief Justice John T. Broderick Jr. of the New Hampshire Supreme Court as its new dean and president. The decision comes after a nationwide search for a replacement of outgoing Dean John D. Hutson.

Broderick, who has served 15 years with the New Hampshire Supreme Court, will retire from his chief justice position on Nov. 30.

Villanova names John Gotanda law school dean

Villanova University has named John Yukio Gotanda dean of the Villanova School of Law effective Jan. 1, 2011. The decision comes after a national search, conducted by a committee of Villanova trustees, faculty, administrators and alumni.

Gotanda comes to the position with a history of professional success. Often regarded as one of the world's most reliable sources on damages in international law, he has published in leading journals including the American Journal of International Law, the Harvard International Law Journal and the Oxford University Comparative Law Forum.

Wake Forest Professor Mark Hall to assist implementation of health care reform

Mark Hall, professor of Wake Forest University School of Law, has been appointed to the membership of one of the federal advisory boards that is implementing a part of the new health care reform law.

The Patient Protections and Affordable Care Act requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish the Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan Program, and provides for an Advisory Board to the program. Hall is a professor of law and public health, specializing in health care law and policy, with a focus on economic, regulatory and organizational issues.
