Touro Law Signs Agreement with South China Normal University

Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with South China Normal University (SCNU) for the two schools to jointly pursue scholarly activities. Under the MOU, graduate and undergraduate law students at SCNU students will be able to study at Touro Law and, where appropriate, be awarded an LL.M. graduate law degree.

“SCNU is an impressive university with excellent students,” said Touro Harry Dean Ballan. “I am delighted that its students will be able to study at Touro Law and take courses with our students. The MOU will promote cooperation between our two schools, enriching both, and will give students a greater understanding of the relationship between the United States and China and the role of international law in that relationship.”

SCNU Dean Zhang Yongzhong said, “Touro Law Center is excellent at teaching its students the law. We look forward to collaborating with Touro Law on student exchange programs, conferences, and other academic projects.”  Touro Law hosted Dr. Jin Zheng, an SCNU law professor, during the 2015-16 academic year.

Associate Dean Rodger Citron traveled to Guangzhou in October to sign the MOU with SCNU. As part of SCNU’s “American Week,” Dean Citron gave a lecture on “Developments in American Legal Education” to undergraduate and graduate law students.

“SCNU was a gracious host,” Dean Citron said. “I look forward to working with its students and faculty in the future.”
