Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law is located in a vibrant neighborhood in Greenwich Village, just blocks from Union Square. A private Jewish institution founded in 1976, it is noted for intellectual property law and alternative dispute resolution, as well as the nationally recognized Innocence Project.
With a diverse selection of internships and externships, Cardozo students benefit from a curriculum that offers a strong balance of theory and practice through more than 130 courses. They are backed with an A- in practical training according to preLaw magazine and have A’s in many specialties. Cardozo is ranked 1st devout school for Jews.
In 2011, Cardozo offered a new groundbreaking clinic: the Intellectual Property Program. The Indie Film Clinic provides independent filmmakers, directors and producers the legal expertise to succeed in a digital era that is constantly changing and challenging the established rules, said Matthew Diller, former Cardozo dean and professor of law.
Cardozo also recently launched the Fashion, Arts, Media & Entertainment Law Center. It offers courses, experiential learning opportunities and externships in fashion, media, entertainment, the arts, film and sports law. Also, the new Cardozo Data Law Initiative prepares students for careers in information governance, e-discovery, data privacy, social media law and cyber security.
