Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, is run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is one of the Most Devout Christian law schools in the nation. It is also the top Best Value private law school.
That stems from an above average employment rate and bar passage, along with the lowest tuition among private schools — at just $13,060. That has helped its graduate keep debt at just $53,237.
The low tuition allows students to live their values and pursue their career aspirations without their choices being shadowed by overhanging debt.
While most students are Latter-day Saints, students of all faiths are welcome and encouraged to attend. But all students must abide by the school’s honor code, which includes no alcohol, coffee or pre-marital sex.
The school’s faith can be seen in its curriculum as well, with a strong focus on religious freedom and immigration.
BYU is also one of the most innovative school’s in the nation. It recently launched LawX, a legal design lab that uses technology to address issues surrounding access to justice. The course is structured as an idea incubator to explore common problems surrounding the legal system and create solutions for non-lawyers.
