Gonzaga University School of Law
Gonzaga University School of Law
Gonzaga University, a private Jesuit law school, is the only school located in eastern Washington — four hours east of Seattle in Spokane. It’s the Most Devout Catholic law school in the West and No. 5 nationwide. The schools mission is to "deliver excellent legal education informed by our humanistic, Jesuit, Catholic traditions and values." It hopes to equip students to serve as public intellectuals and leaders in law.
The law school is on the smaller side, with an enrollment around 400 students. That helps faculty and administrators build strong relationships with students. It has one of the top buildings in the region, earning an A in 2018 for its facilities. The four-story building opened in 2000, and is adjacent to the Spokane River. It was designed entirely for legal education and includes classrooms, seminar rooms, and a two-story courtroom in addition to offices and lounges.
In addition to being one of the top Jesuit schools, Gonzaga University consistently reports the best bar pass rate in Washington state. For the Class of 2016, it reported an ultimate pass rate of 96.58 percent, second highest in the West and one of the highest rates in the nation.
Clinics include business law, elder law, environmental law and land use, Federal tax law, general practice and Indian law.
