Based in Boston, Northeastern University School of Law is one of the nation’s leaders in experiential legal education. It normally tops all schools in preLaw’s annual ranking of best schools for practical training.
The school infuses practical skills into the curriculum beginning in the first year.
In the school’s signature offering, Cooperative Legal Education Program, students complete four, three-month internships. Students have opportunities all over the world, working in advocacy organizations, law firms, government offices, judges’ chambers and all types of businesses and nonprofits. The law school also offers clinical programs and practical skills courses. Because of that, Northeastern law students graduate with almost a full year of legal experience.
Hand in hand with its longstanding leadership in the field of experiential learning is the law school’s commitment to the public interest. A top public interest law school, approximately one-third of each graduating class launches their careers with public interest and government organizations.
The school is also diverse: 64 percent of students are women and more than 30 percent are minorities. More than half of the faculty are women and approximately a quarter are minorities.
