Basic Information
Religious Affiliation:

The oldest law school west of the Mississippi — that’s a title only Saint Louis University School of Law can boast. Residing in downtown St. Louis, this Catholic law school is in a former office building that was transformed into the beautiful Scott Hall, one that scored an A- in the National Jurist’s list of best facilities. Just steps away from courthouses, city hall, government agencies and leading law firms, SLU Law students are surrounded by a vibrant professional community.

Dean Michael Wolff said the school’s location and amenities create an invaluable experience for students.

“Our location, proudly positioned in the midst of bustling legal and business communities, has transformed the law school,” he said. “We've done a terrific job of integrating our rigorous academic program with our neighbors. From the moment students step in the building, they’re networking with and learning from practicing lawyers, judges, etc. — whatever their interest is in law.”

The school offers an evening program and several dual-degree programs. In addition, St. Louis has concentrations in several subjects, including entrepreneurship, employment, environment, health, intellectual property, taxation and trial advocacy. It houses centers in employment law, health law and international law, along with the Vincent C. Immel Law Library, one of the largest in the state.

It earned an A- in preLaw magazine’s ranking of the best schools for practical training. It offers 1.95 simulation courses for every student, one of the most in the nation. Bar passage rate is similarly high, at more than 91 percent.

PreLaw magazine ranked Saint Louis as the 10th best school for devout Catholics.
