Basic Information

Texas Tech University is the best value law school in Texas, with tuition at just $26,840 and the state’s second-highest bar pass rate.

“We are a family here at Texas Tech Law. We always put our students first, and we focus on the real-world practical skills that every lawyer needs for a fantastic career in the profession,” said Dean Jack Nowlin.

The Lubbock law school has an extensive, nationally recognized advocacy program. It has consistently ranked as one of the top moot court programs in the nation. While advocacy is a core strength, the school also excels in other areas. The school also offers a robust clinical program, 10 dual-degree programs, a regional-externship program, and a public-service graduation requirement, each of which contributes to developing the skills and values of a competent and ethical practitioner.

It offers certificates in business law, emerging technologies, criminal law and law scn science. It has a strong but small law and science program, run through its Center for Biodefense, Law and Policy. That center focuses on science that impacts national security. It also has a center for military law, energy law, water law and advocacy.

The school requires more core courses than most law schools, with two full years of required courses that prepare students for the bar exam. It also offers eight clinics.
