Basic Information

Talk about a small school that is under the radar. The University of Tulsa College of Law is the highest-rated best value private law school in the nation, and also one of the smallest, with a 7.2 to 1 student-to-faculty ratio.

The law school consistently makes the PreLaw magazine list of Best Value Law Schools and received an A+ in the overall ranking in 2018. After slashing tuition by 35 percent to $24,600 for the entering class of 2017, TU Law is among the nation's most affordable private law schools.

The school’s most significant innovation is the Access to Legal Education Scholarship (ALES) program. Funded by alumni donations and the University, the ALES program awards an $18,000 annual scholarship to all first-year students who are residents of or who have graduated from a degree-granting institution from a 12-state region. This adds up to an average discount of 55.9 percent off tuition.

The school also excels in employment, where it is ranked No. 1 in Oklahoma and No. 15 in the nation, with a 94.19 percent placement rate. That has improved considerably in recent years. It also reported a 94.44 percent ultimate bar pass rate for the Class of 2015.

Tulsa Law continues to make strides in its experiential learning curriculum with more than 150 externship partners such as the Federal Trade Commission, American Civil Liberties Union, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Consumer Energy Alliance, Federal Public Defender – Northern and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma, Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic, Cherokee Nation Business and U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.

The law school offers a certificate in Sustainable Energy & Resources Law and provides concentration in a number of areas including corporate law, criminal justice, health law, immigration, Indian law and litigation.

Tulsa also earned an A for its building, making it one of the best facilities in the region.
