Widener University Delaware Law School is a vibrant educational community with a diverse student body offering both full-time and part-time programs, a distinguished faculty, and a dedicated staff.
Delaware Law School is situated along the northeast corridor conveniently located between Washington and New York.  The law school is just five miles from downtown Wilmington, America’s “corporate capital”—the perfect place to focus on corporate and business law, intellectual property law, and business bankruptcy law.  The internationally influential courts in Delaware, combined with a thriving corporate practice environment, provide an exciting range of opportunities for legal externships and employment, including an opportunity for select students to clerk for justices of the Delaware Supreme Court as Josiah Wolcott Fellows.
As the only law school in the state, Delaware Law School is a critical part of Delaware’s unique legal culture which prizes civility and respect within the bench and bar.  Delaware’s preeminence in corporate law, bankruptcy, and intellectual property, combined with the Law School’s influential presence in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, give students abundant opportunities for clerkships, externships, pro bono experiences, and permanent employment after graduation.
The law school’s emphasis on applied learning and community engagement as our pedagogical model gives every student frequent opportunities for real world learning and assessment.  Unique experiential and interdisciplinary signature programs give students opportunities to specialize in corporate law, environmental law, family and health law, and advocacy.  The law school provides the teaching and tools students need to do what lawyers do best:  help those who face legal challenges needing practical solutions.  We lead in public service, professional training, and continuing legal education.  Our mission is to train our students to make a real difference in the lives of their future clients.  We enjoy the support of our alumni, and extended legal community in making our mission a reality for our students.
Since 1975, when the first class graduated, Delaware Law School has been a trusted resource in Delaware and throughout the region.  Over 12,000 alumni practice locally and throughout the world.  Among the alumni are current and past presidents of the Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey bar associations and over 200 sitting judges, including a sitting Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court and a sitting Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court.
Delaware Law is the award winning Delaware affiliate to the national Wills for Heroes Foundation.  As such, the law school coordinates a pro bono program for the State of Delaware in which first responders — police, fire, and emergency medical responders – have their wills and health care directives drafted at no charge by volunteer attorneys and Delaware Law students.
