Mitchell Hamline Debuts New Professional Certificate For Healthcare Law

Mitchell Hamline School of Law is now offering a certificate for Law and Leadership in Healthcare Administration as part of its Professional Legal Education programs.

The program is conducted completely online and lasts for 13 weeks. The program is designed for attorneys who want to pursue careers in healthcare, hospital and healthcare facility administrators, healthcare practice managers, and nursing home, assisted living and outpatient facility administrators and directors.

Students will study how healthcare organizations are structured, financed, and managed. They will also analyze federal and state laws governing healthcare industry regulations and learn best practices for detecting and preventing fraud and abuse. New trends in healthcare will be explored as well, with a closer look at the newest technology, medical treatments, and business solutions.

Mitchell Hamline Law has brought in national legal experts to teach the certificate program, coming from diverse backgrounds such as healthcare, government relations and privacy law.

Mitchell Hamline adjunct professor Charlotte Tschider said “This certificate program will provide healthcare leaders of all levels with clear, applicable, real-world strategies for managing health organization risks.”

The certificate is offered through Mitchell Hamline’s online learning management system. The portal is flexible and interactive facilitating online discussions, hands-on exercises, and collaborative activities that can be completed asynchronously.

The Law and Leadership in Healthcare Administration certificate will be offered alongside four other Professional Legal Education programs at Mitchell Hamline. The school also offers online programs in human resources compliance, healthcare compliance, cybersecurity and privacy law, and conflict resolution.

The first certificate class began on April 4. For more information about the certificate program, visit the Mitchell Hamline LLHA website.
