It was a GOOD week for…

Following your dreams, after one law student pursued both of her passions — attending law school and working to qualify in the steeplechase for the 2016 Olympic Games. Ashley Higginson, a second year law student at Rutgers School of Law — Newark was only two seconds away from making the 2012 United States Olympic team, finishing fourth in the steeplechase at the Olympic trials. Higginson didn’t give up. Instead, she trained throughout the year and competed in the steeplechase at the IAAF world Championships in Moscow, and finished as the top American at the competition. She plans to graduate in 2015, and hopes to compete in the Olympics the following year.

It was a BAD week for…

Grasping what it means to fail a class, after a law student sued his school because he was required to retake a course in which he received a D. Jackson Millikan, a third-year at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, filed suit against his school because administrators told him he would have to retake Civil Procedure II in order to graduate. Millikan was automatically re-enrolled in Civil Procedure II, however, dropped the class. He filed suit because if he fails to graduate, he will be prevented from obtaining acceptance to any other law school.
