Which are the largest LL.M. programs for foreign attorneys?

There are an estimated 3,000 foreign attorneys in 100 graduate law programs in the U.S. , according to data compiled by The National Jurist. While the median program has only 20 students, enrollments are growing.

New York University has the largest program in the U.S. with 300 foreign attorneys. The University of Southern California is second with 170 foreign attorneys. It is followed by the University of Pennsylvania with 115, University of Illinois with 100, Northwestern University School of Law with 100, and Boston University School of Law with 80.

The University of Southern California also has the largest number foreign students at the broader university — with 9,840 international students. It has been the top university for the past 12 years.

The number of international students in U.S. universities increased by about 7 percent last year to 820,000, according to a survey conducted by the New York nonprofit Institute of International Education, in partnership with the U.S. State Department.

Most of the growth is coming from China, which sent about 236,000 students.

The University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign had the second-most international students with 9,800. Purdue University, which does not have a law school, has the third highest total.

Other law schools with 50 ore most foreign students include: Cornell Law School, SMU Dedman School of Law, Georgetown University, University of Minnesota, William & Mary Law School and Vanderbilt University.
