Yale Law School sits in a class by itself and is rarely mentioned as a New England school or even a regional school.
Its entering LSAT and GPA scores make it the most difficult school to get into in the world. Located in New Haven, Conn., it also leads all New England schools, and most schools nationwide, in other important statistics, including bar passage and student-to-faculty ratio.
While high compared to most schools, its employment rate trails Harvard, Columbia and other top schools. That is partly because a large number of students take federal clerkships or move into academia, and take time off before doing so.
PreLaw magazine ranked the law school building, one of the oldest in the nation, as the 13th best facility in the U.S. The magazine also gave it 5th best school for practical training in 2019, based on its unparalleled clinic offerings. No other school comes even close to offering as many clinic positions.
With world-renowned professors, a lax grading policy unfathomable to most law students and a building on the hollowed grounds of Yale University, the school is a paradise, particularly for students who care about pedigree.
