Baylor takes top honors at national mock trial

The Baylor Law School mock trial team won the National Trial Competition in San Antonio, Texas, in March.

Robert Little, adjunct professor and Waco attorney, and Gerald Powell, The Abner V. McCall Professor of Evidence Law coached the team of Joel Bailey and Eric Policastro. Law student Crystal Y’Barbo served as evidence coach. The team defeated a University of Kentucky team in the finals to become champions.

The National Trial Competition is the largest and oldest mock trial competition. It is sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers and was hosted by the Texas Young Lawyers Association in San Antonio. This year’s competition included approximately 300 teams that competed at the regional level. Twenty-eight regional winners then competed at the national level.
