Cooley spends on library expansion and scholarship funds

Thomas M. Cooley Law School recently announced a $6 million expansion to its Lansing-campus library and the creation of a $2 million scholarship fund.

“Cooley is committed to offering every individual who has the skills and desire to be an attorney with the opportunity to study and the very best environment in which to learn,” said Don LeDuc, president and dean of Cooley Law School. “The library expansion and scholarship fund will allow us to do just that.”

After the expansion, Cooley’s library will be the nation’s second largest law school library in physical size. It will also include seating for 270 students and various private study rooms.

The newly endowed scholarship fund will provide aid for third-year students in good academic standing who have substantial financial need.

Funding for both projects depends on donations, though Cooley has agreed to match each donation in order to fully fund the developments. More than $1.7 million has already been raised toward the library’s fundraising goal and nearly $1 million has been raised for the scholarship fund.
