Boston University hosts summer London program for foreign attorneys

Boston University School of Law has announced its Summer 2013 Legal Institute in London: "Legal English and Global Business Transactions: Practical Skills in Structuring, Drafting and Negotiating International Business Agreements from a U.S. Law Perspective."

Exclusively for lawyers and advanced law students trained outside the United States, the program is designed to provide intensive, practical training in the contractual aspects of international business transactions and in the use of legal English. The three week program runs from July 6, 2014 – July 26, 2014.

“BU Law has the unique ability to offer a program which provides foreign-trained attorneys with the practical skills needed to excel in global practice, through integrated teaching of the legal and language skills essential for global work,” said John Riccardi, BU Law’s assistant dean for graduate and international programs.

In small class settings, students receive hands-on instruction from law faculty and from legal English instructors from Boston University's acclaimed Center for English Language and Orientation Programs.

“Being able to learn from BU Law professors in small class settings amid the vibrancy of London is a unique experience,” Riccardi said.

This year's program will run in July, finishing well in advance of most LL.M. program start dates. Furnished housing in London's most exclusive district, South Kensington, is included in the program fee. The summer 2014 application deadline is June 1, 2014.
