Loyola New Orleans Online Master’s in Criminal Justice Ranked No. 11

Loyola University New Orleans has the 11th ranked online master of criminal justice degree programs in the country, as rated by TheBestSchools.org. The program offers students various specializations within their respective fields including forensic science administration and justice administration. A new specialization within the program— added in fall 2013 — is cyber forensics investigation and administration. Loyola University New Orleans decided to add the specialization after they received an overwhelming demand for a cyber related justice program.

“We are a new breed in justice programming,” David Khey, Ph.D., director of the online Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration degree program, said in a press release. “Both our forensic science administration and our cyber forensics investigation and administration specializations are cases-in-point. Instead of solely focusing on cybercrime investigation tools or on the science in crime labs, Loyola gives justice professionals who already have experience in these domains the ability to enhance and augment their existing knowledge while learning how to lead the lab, probation office or private security firm.”

Criteria for the rankings included faculty, reputation, quality of the program, courses offered and more.

“Loyola University New Orleans’s online master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration program provides students with the necessary knowledge and leadership skills needed to succeed in the demanding criminal justice administration system,” the website said in their explanation of the ranking. “Students gain comprehensive understanding in areas such as organizational administration, theories of crime prevention, and budget planning.”

More than 70 schools were considered but only 20 were chosen. This is the first time that the Loyola University New Orleans online criminal justice program has been ranked.
