Albany Law raises $33M since 2019

In two and a half years, Albany Law School raised $33 million during its most successful fundraising effort in its 170-year history, We Rise Together: The Campaign for Albany Law School, which closed June 30 with a final anonymous gift of $1 million.

“This campaign has exponentially grown annual giving, made our endowment stronger, fully endowed The Justice Center and has made it more financially feasible for students to pursue a legal education at Albany Law School,” said Alicia Ouellette, president and dean of the law school.

The campaign launched in 2019 with a goal of $30 million. The first anonymous gift was $15 million to endow The Justice Center.

The law school raised almost $18 million since the launch with the endowment reaching $81 million. Nearly 3,000 individuals supported the campaign.

Other contributions have included $1.8 million to support student scholarship, $1 million to establish a fund for innovation and entrepreneurship and a $250,000 endowment to establish a Women’s Leadership Initiative.

Funding was also provided for 10 new scholarships and endowed funds, gifts to create a new Barrister Student Scholarship Program and funding to create a new student wellness program.

Albany Law plans to celebrate the success of the campaign with a number of events for alumni, faculty, students and staff throughout the fall.
