Louisiana College Pressler School of Law announced it may delay its intended fall 2013 opening date, after the law school dean, J. Michael Johnson, resigned. Johnson, who was hired in 2010, left the university for a “great job offer,” the school reported.

Louisiana College is in Shreveport, Louisiana and is planned as a faith-based law school.

“The board is undaunted at its mission of opening the law school — it’s just how we regroup as to the leadership,” Louisiana College President Joe Aguillard said in a statement. “Though Dean Johnson is moving on to other endeavors, the college will continue to benefit from his leadership in a consulting capacity.”

Johnson was a former senior legal counsel for the conservative Christian group Alliance Defending Freedom.

Louisiana College originally announced its school of law in 2007, and planned on enrollment beginning in 2009. The opening was pushed back to 2012, and again to 2013. Now, the school will begin a national search for a new dean. No students are yet enrolled.
